I have a Steinberger Spirit XT-2, which I've had some setup issues with before regarding intonation. I went through a period of making a lot of setup changes to try and get the best compromise, but found one I was happy with, and I haven't fiddled with the setup at all for months. It has been very stable this whole time.
Then, today I pick it up, and there is suddenly very noticeable fret buzz - some notes on the G string sound like a sitar, and even the open G string buzzes slightly. There is a little buzz on the D string, but mainly the G string. I last played it probably 3 or so days ago and it was perfect. The change has not in the least bit gradual.
I suppose the obvious answer is that neck has flattened out slightly due to temperature changes or something. But, could that really happen so suddenly, and so markedly? I do recall it doing this before, during the time when I was making frequent setup changes anyway, so I just readjusted the truss rod. If I recall correctly it happened over a really short period (maybe less than an hour). I put it down and then picked it up again, and it was suddenly buzzing.
Does this point to some kind of issue with the guitar, beyond just temperature or humidity changes?
