I've used a BassMax for the past eight months or so, and it's been great (always on the bass). Lately, however, it has started to sound clacky on the E and A strings (it's mounted in the bass-side wing). Much of the smoothness of sound is gone; it seems that the pickup has become overly sensitive on those strings. The strings—Spiro Mittels—are only a few months old, and the bass sounds fine unamplified.
I've always had it stuffed in quite snugly with no problem, but to reduce the recent problem, I had to loosen the fit quite a bit, so that it has barely any pressure on it. Volume is reduced, but I can make up for that with the amp.
Any ideas as to what's wrong and why the sudden change? Has anyone had a BassMax fail?
