I have a 1970s Sunn Concert amp that hasn't been powered up in a couple of decades. It was suggested that I have a technician bring up the power using a variac to make sure the capacitors are still good or at least not fry anything too badly.

I have tried to find a repair shop but have struck out so far. Tried Guitar Center but they don't do electronics. Stereo shops all send out their work to shops far away and quote 5-6 week turn times.

Any suggestions for shops or independent techs here in lock down prison?

There's a very good shop in the City, Upstairs Amp Repair that's co-located with Gary Brawer's guitar tech shop on Lafayette St. Not sure what their current status is, but you should definitely give them a call.

I also was aware of a tube amp tech in the Dublin area, but I can't find his info right at the moment. If I can find it, I'll post it later.

good luck

I live 5 minutes from Dublin. Thanks

hey @Stealth57 ... I looked through my contact info stuff and can't seem to find info for the amp tech in Dublin. It was a few years ago that I was in touch with him so he may not be around anymore. Good luck on your search.
