Getting back to this after taking a few weeks off to recover...
Here is the modular Uncle Fluffy 2-band preamp all built up
And encased in heatshrink to make it easy to install.
This is the same preamp I used in my WBO 2022 with an EMG MM5TW pickup and it was every bit aggressive and commanding as I wanted it to be.
On the build portion, I want to take the neck off and cut the neck pocket about 1.5mm deeper. That should be pretty easy with the router base extension I made. It's funny when you have a tool that works and a task that seemed impossible 20 years ago (when I was in college and just starting to get into woodworking/mods) doesnt seem like a big deal. Hopefully I'll feel the same way in a few years about making a neck from scratch.
The single preamp control plate has also been getting some attention this week, mostly on paper and getting a schematic nailed down. I hope to have a pic with more wires to share soon.

This part was fun. I had a spare MEC 2-band preamp from the Warwick Fortress Masterman (I hated the dual preamp setup, so I went to 1, then to an EMG BQC)
These came as an assembly with the concentric pot. I had to take it off that board and build up a perfboard. The caps were only rated for 16V, but the opamp is rated for 30V. I wanted to run it at 18V, so I replaced the tantalum caps with electrolytic.
I could have used a longer perfboard and laid the caps down flat. Oh well... hindsight....
And some heatshrink to cover it all up

I had a few minutes to route the pocket depth another 1.5mm. There was a small chipout, filling that with superglue, and a small portion that needed some smoothing with a chisel.
The Hipshot Licensed tuner on the E had a weird wiggle, took it apart and found out the bushing is cross threaded.
I guess I should go ahead and order that Hipshot drop D tuner. If I had known I would be replacing tuners, I would have went with black.

Probably made by the same guy who made my tap and die set. I had to buy an odd size die recently and made sure to get the one with a 1" outside hex so it would fit my existing 1" die stock/holder and ... it doesn't fit. Turns out my set says 1" hex on the box, but it's actually 25mm.Nice work and nice chisel.

I recently found a 4' long center zero ruler and was like "yes!", then I looked closely, and both sides were imperial with 1/8" gradations. Really? Like really, really?
Still, no conversion beats faulty conversion.
Also, you can eye 32nds of an inch. Just divide the 1/8" intervals in four parts.

Not to derail this build thread even further, but @LowEndLobster just released a Ray4 mod video here
and in the next few weeks will be testing out the Nordstrand BigBladeMan I'm using. He will also feature the Turner MC4-B-SEP multicoil I've been eyeing on Reverb.

He built me a 4 string multicoil for my lowenbass build.
As soon as my life isn't a hot mess, I'll get that together and record a sample.
He did a bunch of sound samples back in the pickups thread.

Edit: Lobster’s actually got one of the MC4-B-SPSC variants (like a “normal” humbucker that can be wired Series, Parallel, or “Single” Coil). The SEP variants are the ones that are wired as one humbucker under each string with separate outputs for each.
To further complicate things, I’m also going to be offering a variant (probably to replace the SPSC) that will allow for series/standard P/parallel or series/reverse P/parallel, or all four if you know how to hook them up to a 4-way rotary switch, or buy one of those 2-pickup Dingwall switches from Fretnation.
