Sup?

Hi folks,

I just registered and figure some introductions are in order. I've been playing guitar for about 10 years now and recently picked up bass to complete a alternative/ rock cover band (yea, I'm one of those).

I've always enjoyed listening to bass live, cause it makes and incredible tactile as well as auditory impression on the audience (more so than guitar I think). Plus I've found that bassists get as much creative freedom as lead guitarists without the pressure of the spotlight during a lead guitar solo.

I consider my self an amature and am hoping that i'll find advice in these forums on gear, playing techniques etc.

Thanks for the opportunity to join.

I re-read this 13 years later and a few things are irritating me:

1) Its amateur*, myself* not my_self, complete an* not complete a
2) I'm no better a bass guitarist now than I was when I wrote this post, still equally obsessed with gear though

Otherwise the content of the post is still accurate.

If anyone reads this and has advice on how to stop tweaking gear and start improving on the instrument itself, then please feel free to share.
