Surprise: Fender Rumble amp!

Lighten up, Francis. Of course it's possible some don't like the amps. I'd suggest you take a look at the reviews from your online vendor of choice. The amps certainly sell well, and the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Seems to me the marketplace has spoken.

If you're construing my earlier comment as an insult, maybe you're one of the "haters" Gougedeye is talking about. ;)

About three years ago I traded several heavy pieces of old equipment in for a new Rumble 200 v3 and have never regretted it. The size, weight and volume are all on point. Around eight months ago I picked up a used Rumble 2x10 v3 and the two combined (with some extra EQ from an MXR 10 band stompbox) are now my touring rig. I regularly get compliments on how good the bass sounds!

I have higher end $$$ "pro gear".

I also own the "entry level" Fender Rumble 500 Combo.

I play weddings, rock gigs, backyard parties etc. Sometimes I will opt to take the Rumble Combo for convenience sake. And let me tell you, this the rumble does not leave me wanting for a single thing as far as pro gear goes. As a matter of fact, when I think about the price I paid for it, it becomes more amazing!!! Add to that the light weight of the combo and it becomes a no-brainier for me.

I love it when bass players come up to me at a gig and tell me the Fender combo sounds impressive, and then proceed to tell me about their "pro gear" as as if it adds to their value as a player.

I don't care about labels, brands, being on the "winning team", or flavor of the year club.

My main concern and focus is engaging the audience with our music. Gear and basses are simply tools. First, I look at gear to see if it meets my needs in professional situations. I don't care who, or what brand happen to make it.

No piece of gear is for everyone of course, but the Fender Rumble 500 combo amazes me!!! It is a great time to be a bass player for sure!!!

I was an SWR user since 1998, and am also upset about the fender fate of that company.

I needed a smaller lighter amp a few years ago and after OCD research and store testing, the rumble 200 (combo 115) was the winner in my price range. A year later my van where I was currently storing all of my SWR gear (except my 410 which was in storage) was broken into and they got everything.

But I wasn't totally put out of business because the rumble200 was somewhere else. I did have to buy another cab because I usually used an extension and they got my 110, 210 and 115 swr cabs. I ended up with a rumble 112 and have been happy with the rig ever since.

or there are some of us that have a Rumble and simply do not like it.

I have a Rumble combo and cannot find a tone I like out of it. Plain and simple. I use it as a home practice amp - but that is it.

Seriously I would be curious what difference upgrading from the Chinese speakers they use would make, have you thought of trying that? Of course it would probably be cost prohibitive to buy them, but if you had some nicer speakers just laying around....
