SVT 3 Pro (05) NO SOUND

ALright, so last night I went to go play some bass like I normally do. It turns on normally, still recieves input (looking at peak light). The fan sounded a little weaker, but there was a dead buzzing sound, which was unaffected by any volume or gain controls. I tried different instrument cables, even tapped the ends.

The neuitrik cable I used was broken, but it has worked for me for the past 2 years, so I don't think thats the issue completely.

Its almost like something in the power section is broken, maybe a tube? Maybe you guys could give me a hand in figuring this out. Ill be taking it into a technician if I can't fix it myself safely.

Why not? Broken cables tend to make your rig stop working correctly ;)

Assuming it's the amp, two common culprits for not working are tubes and dirty effects loop jacks. If you haven't used the effects loop in a while, it can get corroded and require cleaning. You can clean it by running a plug in and out of the jacks rapidly a few times in a row, but it's best to use contact cleaner. Or maybe a tube is out. If you have a spare or two, try swapping them out one at a time.

But really, I'd bet money it's your broken speaker cable.

Um... try a different cable. Every 'broken' cable worked OK prior to it being broken:p

The next step would be to check the preamp tubes.

Don't spend any money or do anything else until you check these two things (and also the effects loop per JimmyM's comment)

Thanks guys. Yeah, Im gonna go buy a new speak-on cable today. The cable might not be 'broken' but the plastic sleeve is. Im thinking a tube, because they are 6 years old, and apparently this amp was roughed around by the previous owner (ie dropped a few times)
