SVT 4 Pro power amp?

Alllllright let me start off by saying I love my svt-4 pro, but until I get the preamp fixed I have this situation. So I am using my tech 21 sansamp BDDI as my preamp, and running that through my svt-4 pro power amp, the guy I bought it from did the same thing for every show. He said that the volume control for the power amp was the master volume on the head, I have not been having the same experience, whats on god's green earth do I use to control the volume level besides the sansamp level, or my bass volume? Anyways, my preamp is messed up, and until I get it fixed I am going to use this setup, it actually sounds quite good, I had a guy come up to me after a gig saying it was the most cleanest crisp sounding bass he has ever heard....

I have something similar to your set up. I have the same head and everything works. I bought a Tech21 RPM (pre-amp, I'm a new Rush fan) and tried hooking it up two ways.

First, I ran it straight into the SVT power amp plug. With this set up, the Ampeg pre amp is out of the circuit. You plug you bass into the Tech21 and control the volume and tone from there.

The second way, and this is how I now have mine set up, I run the RPM thru the effects loop on the Ampeg. That way I can switch back and forth between the Ampeg pre-amp and the Tech 21 by pushing the effects loop button. You stay plugged into the Tech21 with your bass but the button switches you back and forth. You control the volume and tone on the pre-amp you're switched to. This is handy if you want to switch tones with one button push.:bassist:

I did run into one problem. I got a low level but annoying hum when the devices were connected.:help: It didn't matter if a bass was hooked up or where the volume was set. I went thru weeks of testing and experimenting until finally I bought an Ebtech HE2 hum eliminator. Problem solved! It is an internal signal hum, not a power grounding hum.

Good luck!
