SVT-810E Questions

Their appearance would certainly be timed to suggest this. I don't think eminence would come out with some new design if they didn't intend for it to at least sell reasonably well. No need to add to their catalog unless there in an industrial buyer. I can't recall the exact figures, but wasn't it around 400 8x10s and 500 4x10s? That's 5200 speakers, sounds big enough to kick off a production run.......

not according to tom bowlus. he said the heritage cabs are noticeably better than the current loud cabs, which are, as you said, very good, but could be improved. the normal loud cabs use drivers made by eminence china, and these are using usa eminence drivers custom made for ampeg. plus that black sparkle grillcloth looks beautiful. i could be tempted to get one if i could afford it and didn't already have an old 810 from 73.

It seems I was uninformed when I made my comment about the Heritage line. My bad. The Heritage 810 does have some significant differences from the Classic 810.

The current 810E sounds muffled compared to even the 810Es that I heard in the early 90s. The new 210AV doesn't, and now the "heritage" 810 ... looks like Ampeg might be listening to the feedback :bassist:

One of the best things I ever heard was an early 90s 810E with an SM-400. Seriously amazing ... I bought a current 810E a while back looking for some of that vibe and really felt like it came up short. I might even be willing to move the beast to get that tone, but what I got out of the late model cab didn't inspire me to haul the tonnage.

early 90's 810e's were great. 810e's from the late 90's till the loud sale sound like they have a blanket over them. but i kind of like loud 810e's. there's room for improvement but they're good imho.

Is the whole distant dull sounding quality something that used to not be the case for all Ampeg cabs, I've played through a couple of hlf410s and while they have alot of top end the mids seems very subdued, when you try crank some to get some going they sound awful. Kinda cool cab for a sir below and cut well above kinda tone though.
