Mythbusters proved that the brown note doesn't exist.
A few days ago, I nearly pulled the trigger on a "two-pack" of SVT-CLs I saw on eBay. It's gone now, I tried to find it to provide a link.
They were I believe late 80s, in a road case on wheels that was included. The seller wouldn't separate them. They were brand new, bought for a tour of Asia that never happened, so they sat in climate-controlled storage ever since. I think the bid at the time was $2500 with a BIN of $3000. I could be wrong though.
I'm sure I'll get this one fixed or replaced, and I'll have years of trouble-free operation. I've been repeating that for the last 24 hours.
Bullcrap. Ampeg's the most requested backline because lots of people like them. If they didn't like them, they wouldn't request them. I hear this "tradition" argument about Fender and Ampeg, and it's just not true. For a product to be successful, it still has to be able to compete in today's world. Obviously the Ampeg stuff still competes.Ampegs "are" prone to problems these days I had a SVT-CL fail on me just recently.
Ampegs is the the most requested backline rental amps in the world because of a reputation forged when Ampeg was a owned by different people in a different era.
Actually they are. 3 years ago I wouldn't have said that, but they cleaned house at LOUD and actually got people in there who care. All amps can break, even the ones with the very best reputation in the business. And with new tube production being what it is, sometimes you get a bad one in an amp with 11 of them. It's fine not to like Ampeg, and we obviously get that you don't, but I think the new Ampeg stuff is as good quality as anything they've ever made. YMMV, but I have a lot of field experience that bears it out.The Ampegs of today are not your father's Ampeg
