I've pretty much rounded out my collection of basses and pedals so the only hole left is my amp lineup. Have a acme 2x10, DRB 1x15, Schroeder 2x12 and a MB Tube 800. Overall, this gets the job done. Everything fits in my car, life is good. Right? Yesterday I tried out an SVT w/8x10 and it was awesome - and this was the Vietnamese version. It just sounds good. So I thought I'd convince my self that it's not too heavy and did a simple test of lifting the head one inch and putting it back in place.

What do you guys think about the SVT 7 Pro?

Heh. But I did decide to get my butt back to the gym. If only life wasn't about tradeoffs....

I don't know about the SVT7PRO but I use a CL into an 810 Heritage and it never fails to make me smile. Just get your drummer to grab the other end and hoist it up on top of the cab. You can also put the head on an amp stand or something else ( doesn't look as cool !) . I don't drive an 18 wheeler but for me this rig is close to it. Good luck :)

Who says you have to put it on top of the 8x10? I've run mine (SVT HCL or SVTVR) still attached to my mini hand truck (bungie corded sideways) behind my 8x10 on occasion. Yeah, the complete stack does look impressive, but it's also fun looking at other bassist snooping around between sets trying to figure what the heck you're ruuning that sounds so darn good. OHHH it's an SVT ... hehehehe Yes boys..it an SVT!

The SVT (CL, VR, etc) are just to heavy and bulky for me. I love them to death tonewise but just hated dragging them around....

Especially brutal in the snow. Not too hard to wipe out onto your ass in a blizzard while carrying a 85lb deadweight. Done it.... Not fun!

The 7Pro s a great amp IMO....

Man, that is the funniest thing I've read for awhile, I actually heard the rimshot!!

No opinion on the SVT 7 have not heard one, but my VR through the 8x10, follow your ears your back will get in line......

I wouldn't want to haul my SVT-CL through the snow either and would probably make the same decision if I was you.

But it never snows here, and I find the SVT's tone is worth its weight so I still haul it with a smile. I've got a Genz Benz and Mesa Scout for those days when I just don't feel like it. Lots of great amp options out there today. I'd have no problem with a 7 Pro.

Try a Traynor YBA300 imo it's a darn fine piece & (only) 51lbs. I was initially very sceptical-12x 6l6's, but with it's tube lock out system, replace in matched pairs oknly, & user bias,,,,, I was sold. Boy am I glad I did!
The 7 pro is great too, but, as Jimmy says above, close, but no long tubey shaped cigar.

Cor!! I found it more like an SVT than the 400+ I know it's lotsa 6L6's like the 400+, but didn't make the tonal connection IMO.
It's been a few yrs since I played a 400+ tho, But I found them MUCH tighter sounding. The YBA300 gets real lush as you turn it up..
We all hear differently tho, & I could be wrong... :hiding:
