SVT VR gain

Just want to check that I've got it right - because the SVT VR has no gain knob, just a master, does that mean in effect that the input gain is always on maximum? So if you put the volume up to 3 for instance that would be the same as putting something like a CL on 3 on the master and 10 on the gain?

Afaik, it'd be 'sort of' the same as running the SVT-CL master volume on full, & gain where you put the VR volume. So, on 3.
If that makes ANY sense to ya?

After reading it twice yes it does make sense! Hence why the famous breakup doesn't kick in until it's loud.

Right, putting the master volume wide open makes it run more like a non-master volume amp. Whether it's labelled gain, volume, or master, you're contolling it with the input gain.
