SVT212-AV Question

So i've been using the v4B / SVT212AV for a while and, while I like tone I get, I am wanting at times a bit more low-end. Was thinking of just swapping it for the 410HLF, but I'm worried it would be too 'boomy'. What if I added a 115? I have an opportunity to pick up an SVT 115 Pro Neo cab. I would use with the V4B as well as an Ashdown ABM EVO 600 IV depending on the venue. Is there a cab I can add/blend to get a little more low end without loosing the character of the SVT212-AV?

I believe the 410HLF will be a totally different character. The 410HLF plays much lower and is often perceived as hyped in the low end or perhaps scooped in the mids. My impression is people either love this cab or they hate it. Most of the people who love it, tend to use high powered solid state output sections. Tube amps have a lower damping factor than solid state amps, and that seems to be somewhat problematic with the 410HLF.

A second SVT212AV should give you fuller lows.

Ideally when you combine cabs you want two identical cabs. Running identical cabs ensures they will work well together Different ported designs tend to have variances in their phase response and group delay characteristics. If the variances are significant it degrades the sound.

When you have two identical cabs, they integrate as well as they possibly can, and you get something called acoustic coupling. Acoustic coupling only occurs for the frequency range where the drivers are within about 1/4 wavelength of each other. In other words, you get acoustic coupling in the low end, but not the high end. So when you double up on cabs you get a fuller sound.

If possible, try to find a store with a 212AV and bring your rig in to so how it sounds with two cabs.
