Swapping Necks

I have a '99 Fender American Standard Precision Bass and I just acquired a '99 Fender Hot-Rodded American Precision Bass. The standard is sunburst with maple fretboard, the hot-rod is sunset orange with rosewood fretboard. I think the maple would look better with the orange and the rosewood with the sunburst. Is there anything more to swapping the necks than just swapping the necks? Take off the strings, take out four screws, and swap them?

In theory, no. The heels of two P basses (except for the limited years where three screw necks were used) should be compatible. J necks are generally interchangable with P bodies, etc, too. However, in practice, there are sometimes slight misalignments of screw holes and the need to adjust intonation where a minor difference between how one neck and another fit into the same neck pocket.

Same number of frets, same country of origin, It will fit.
Might need to adjust intonation and setup, if you're into that sort of thing.
