Details

This is one of the first 70 basses made by Scott Whitley in 2015/ 2016, before he sold to Chowny. The main difference (I think?) is a solid rather than individual bridge. Comes with a used road runner hardshell case and has EMG Active pickups with EQ. Nut is 1.5" wide with 18mm spacing, 30.5" scale. Ash body, rosewood (I think?) Fretboard and weighs 8.3 pounds, with case it all is just under 20 lbs. Ships from scenic landlocked Akron Ohio and the price is $625 plus shipping for the continental US only. (Give me your zip and I'll take it to UPS for the price) No scratches, no dents, it was barely used. Plays great, I just like my Squier Jazz better.

I'm including the original sales receipt that shows I paid quite a bit more (especially because the price was in Pounds and I used Dollars) and it was shipped here from England, without a case. Right now on the Chowny TB club and the Chowny site itself, one can see a serious wait time for ordering and you still pay to get it shipped from overseas.

Given that it has EMG Active pickups with EQ controls, that I'm selling it with a (used) hard case, and that I'm selling it for less than I bought it for, I have absolutely zero desire to lower the price or to trade. (apologies if I sound grumpy, I hate selling stuff online). If it doesn't sell, it's fine as a backup!

Ok see pix below, thanks. There are Scott Whitley SWB-1 demos on YouTube if curious as to what it sounds like.

1 or 2 batteries needed. Is there a passive unpowered mode?
Looking good.

Just one 9 volt battery needed.

Chowny lists it as an active/passive switch (see description below in link) but back when Scott was making them he had this option or a purely passive one, for less $.

SWB-1 Scott Whitley Signature | Chowny Bass

Here are two videos that show the sound options one short one long (in the short one, start at 1:20 or so and around the two minute mark he'll flick the switch. I wish he would've said "and now I'm going from active to passive mode" but hey whatever. He's a good player, I wish my idea of "I'm a bit rusty" was that good:

This one is that Ash model plus the Mahagony one (it was too much $$$ but beautiful). It's also 20 minutes long:

Hello, very interested in this bass. I unfortunately just canceled an order with Chowny and am waiting for my refund to hit my credit card. Is the bass still available? I think your price is very fair. Is the case included? I live in Toms River, NJ., can you calculate what the shipping costs would be?

Thanks,
Bob Knight
