There is a sunburst, maple fingerboard, MIA Fender P-bass at a local store that has been there for at least six years. I play it sometimes, and it is perfect. Friday, I plugged it into an Ampeg Portasound 250, and it sounded flawless!
It's roundwounds are getting a touch old, and that bass sounds like instant Paul Jackson.
I played "Watermelon Man" on it, and when I finished, a clerk asked me what rig I was going through because the tone was so sweet.
This bass is a serious temptation because I guess I could get for a good price since it has been there for so long. The problem is that I know I never use fours for service, and it's not like I really have time to just around the house for fun since my daughters have gotten pretty big. In other words, it would only get intermittent play if I bought it.
