Sweetwater Might Be In Hard Times

The labor to put the bags of candy together would cost more than the candy. But if this is where they are choosing to cut costs, I wish them luck. I think I had my account marked "no candy" when I was doing keto. I'd rather not get the stuff. Try to keep it out of the house.

TBH as a non-sweets guy I always gave my candy away. Tried giving it to the younger kiddos (12 and 15) and the first thing they did after accepting it was ask how I got the "old people candy" lol. Of course they still divvied it up and ate it cause free sweets is free sweets.

If they're gonna cut any corners maybe they could cut the policy of calling me within a day of me placing an order to try and sell me more stuff. It always always always comes when I'm in a meeting too.

I didn't even realize I could do that. I need to revisit my account settings. It's been ages

It was due to happen., I think. Why not cut costs wherever you can.

However, their choice of candy had declined somewhat over the years. My wife has made mention of it the last several times I ordered from them. She used to confiscate my sweets that came in until the candy selection got lame. Haven't seen the chocolate or root beer barrels in a LONG time.
Actually, I got Root Beer Barrels in my most recent order. A couple of orders ago, they didn't include any candy at all. I made casual mention of it and not long after that, a free T-Shirt showed up on my doorstep. My most recent order had a lot of candy in it. No Tootsie Rolls, though.

Got these with a gig bag just yesterday.
(And I've gotta add, the Fender gig bags are pretty nice for the price.)

Wish I could go back to '65 for a week.
I miss the go-go girls.

And there was Candy Johnson.

Ask for a different sales rep. These days I get around 10% off for basses. Used to be 15-20% but they have tightened up.
Yes, that happened to me. They used to be a bit more giving in the discount department, but it's the sign of the times.

Regarding the candy and cheekiness, I'm still going to buy from Sweetwater whether I get sweets or not. It was just one of those funny marketing things that made them a bit more personal.

For basses, weight is a huge factor for me, so I really appreciate that they disclose it and let you select the exact one you want.

I had a choice of where to spend some $ recently on a new keyboard.
I thought of SW, but I also have some mom and pop stores that I have ordered from in the past.
SW is going corporate.
I'll vote with my dollars elsewhere, supporting mom and pops while they are still in existence. SW appears to be consciously moving away from the things that made them unique/special in the past.
