Double Bass Swingin' at the Haven

I just recently discovered Swingin' at the Haven by Ellis Marsalis and it has quickly become one of my favorite swingers to play.

Branford does it on Royal Garden Blues.

Link Removed is a recording of one of my groups doing it. The saxophone does some 'creative interpretation' for a few but you'll get the gist.

I highly recommend Branford's version.

What I really dig about that tune is the way the chord changes are structured. Basically points of rest in the Bbsus chords followed by a series of ii-Vs.

Anybody else play this tune?

That tune is kind of an Atlanta standard, it's a great tune! The fad now is to play the A sections in 5 and the rest in 4.

I haven't heard many people play it here. Too bad. Great tune.
