The last two sets I used were both 12 mth old when I took them off with still some life left in them.
I'd say double life span of NPS rounds, and very consistent sound quality throughout with a slow smooth glidepath down to replacement.

I went through the same thing three years ago, I first try out the Daddario Halfs and the were more like flats than rounds felling wise, and they still kept the brightness of the rounds for some time. Then I try out the Ghs Brite Flats, which was like a step backwards for me, beacause they are more similar to rounds than the Daddario halfs, feeling more rough on the fingers, even though I prefer the sound of the Brite flats.
So for me, if you objetive is to reduce your fingers and be easier on you fingers, Daddario Halfs all day long. But, if you want to preserve some of the brighter tone of the rounds, Ghs Brite flats.

I can never quite understand the Half Round hate. The sticky feeling doesn't last long. They have a very deep fundamental with decent brightness when required. They feel better than ANY round wound and last a very long time.
Well, put the half-rounds on my Yamaha 6-string on Friday with the idea of spending a little time with them before my gig on Saturday. My initial impression; not great.
The tone from string to string was very uneven. Very bright
A/D/G/C and extremely dull and thuddy B/E. Texture was smooth but not the slick surface I had anticipated. Perhaps my own mistaken expectation of the feeling being more that of a flat wound string.
I played on them for the better part of the day, telling myself to give them a chance, but eventually took the set off and restrung with D’Addario nickel roundwounds.
Wrote to D’Addario with the hope of being sent replacements for the B & E strings. We’ll see if they come through. I’d really like to see this experiment through and give the half-rounds a chance.
In my head, I’m hearing sort of a 6-string bass version of Pat Metheny’s or Adam Rogers’ guitar sound. Perhaps I’ll explore the D’Addario “Chromes” set and go full flat-wound. I like the idea of the polished surface they apparently have.

I play the same kind of music as you. I like the D'add half rounds on my Am Std Preciscion. Use GHS flats on my MIM 50's Precision.

Never had this impression. My sets are very well balanced.
They really do feel halfway between a flat and a round with slight bias toward the flat side.
