I guess I should have Bill or Greenboy whack me for my stupidity at least once. You only live once, so here goes
...
I only have one cab at the moment. It's a FAD bassblox 115 8 ohm, designed by the same person who designed my custom tuber. From what I can perceive myself, it's a ported, semi-large 115with a custom 700 watt (according to the seller) Tayden speaker.
Sounds REALLY good IMO.
But it doesn't give me enough volume for all of my needs.
Called FAD. Cab is discontinued. Custom speaker is discontinued
.
What to do now if I want to get a louder rig with more or less the same sound?
A: try to find a 4 ohm 115 speaker (400 watt +) that fits the FAD cab and run it with my little mark on louder gigs (I hate the 8 ohm little mark sound). I am fully aware this will take some time trying to find out which speaker can do it's thing in given cab.
This option allows me to keep some extra money and spend it on a very good mic which I can use for PA-supported gigs.
B: Buy two OBC-115 orange cabs second hand (over here there are lots of them and they are quite cheap). Fix their damping and load 'm up with 3015's if I don't like the stock driver sound (heard greenboy say the 3015 fits these cabs quite well).
This option will take somewhat more money and will probably cause some delay in the mic buying thingy. Most gigs I do, soundmen do have their stock SM 57's, so guess it's no disaster.
Option C: ...?
So, what do you guys think?
