SWR Basic Black... Stack Two of 'Em?

I wonder if I stacked two Basic Black combos, would that be killer?

I'd run into one, then use the Send to run to the Return of the second one. Stacked, alike cabs. Gotta win, right? Like a 240w 215 combo... and even by itself that little combo tends to carry more heft than you'd expect. I'm presently running my Basic Black with a Basic 2-Way cab, which is quite satisfactory for many gigs and situations, but it makes sense to me that two of the combos would get you a little more presence and throw- as well as headroom. Low-power on steroids.

Am I right here?

Indeed. Always sounds good to my ear- I'm just trying to make it work for more venues, as well as to get a little more of it...

Two things to consider.

1) Top-mounted controls. Seem problematic to have a cab sitting on top of knobs. Not only would you risk breaking the knobs, but tweeking the bottom amp would be a bit difficult.

2) Heat - I have never owned that combo, but in my experience, some SWR amps get HOT. That might be problematic for the bottom rig as well.

I'm not saying it's a stupid idea. I'm just saying there is more to ponder than "Will it sound awesome?" I'm sure the sound would be at least fine if not great (depending on the tone you are going for).

Side-by-side setup maybe?

Those are thoughtful remarks... I set up the Basic Black on top of the Basic 2-Way on-end, putting the controls for the combo on their side. This will not only keep the controls from getting bumped into/breaking, but sets the top 15 up a little closer to head-high. Also I've never noticed the Basic Black to get much more than merely 'warm', even run at 4 ohms, which is the rec minimum.

Side-by-each would be fine, I'm sure, but the whole idea behind stacking like-cabs is to get a little (or a significant) boost in apparent volume. Separate power sections, alike cabs stacked. There's my "Low-power on steroids" remark...

Oh, and I won't have to set both preamp controls- using the send from the top amp into the return of the bottom amp makes use of only the top controls, but the power section of each combo amp.

I think I can be ok on these fronts. Thanks for the notes though!

I got my second last week, these two will replace my current "stereo" Mesa rig
