SWR speaker problems

As you can see in the pictures these speakers seem to have some creases in them. Is this as bad as I think it is? What causes this? They don't sound terrible, but they do get some distortion at most volumes.

Also, these are from an Goliath Jr ii, are these Eden made speakers? I pulled my Eden apart as well and they are Emenince. Did Eden ever make speakers for SWR or am I mistaken about this? What do these cabs sell for used?

Thanks

I don't think Eden ever manufactured raw loudspeakers. I know SWR used PAS drivers in the GIII series cabs, and I think in the II series as well. That's what these appear to be.

As much as I like my GIII 4x10, I found the JR (2x10) version to be completely unusable at any worthwhile volume. Farted out very easily, and that was just in my living room! Took it right back to the store and got another GIII 4x10.

Those speakers were made by P.A.S. (Professional Audio Systems) for SWR. Don't blame the manufacturer for the creasing, those are great speakers. You were pushing them WAY too hard.

Cheers,
Duff2

Not laying the blame on anybody as I bought this cab cheap years ago and have only really abused it. It's been a decent enough cab for me for what it cost (less than a recone will be!). I thought it might be caused by over-excursion. It's happened to my Eden as well (or I guess I did it to my Eden) and I just didn't think I had driven that cab that hard. I know the 500W handling is a ubiquitous number, but I don't think I've come anywhere close to that. The CS at Eden is really good now and I think they are going to help me get it fixed(still under warranty). The SWR I have pushed way too hard I know, but it was fun! I just built a fEarful with the Eminence 3012 and that thing just LOVES every bit of 500W! I guess I will just have to be more careful with my Eden.

Is there anything out there that goes between my power amp and cab to ensure that I am not sending too much to my cabs?
Where can I get a recone kit for this?

Hello it is really not your fault the pas ten's not the 15's are like that i have had the goliath2 cab. and it did the same thing to me as well as the eden xlt4 speaker's, put some eminence speaker's in there and get yourself some kind of compressor,i now use the pas speaker's in a stereo they are good sounding speaker's "not made for loud volume's, i guess that's why swr switched to eminence speaker's.good luck.
