SX good or no?

I'm planning on getting a backup bass. Right now i play an ibanez srx2ex2 and love everything about it. But i want a bass just incase my batteries die or i don't want to waste batteries leaving it plugged in. I've been looking at the SX jazz basses and love the price but are they good basses?

Save yourself some grief and do a search for Essex basses. TB software can't handle a search for under three-letter words, so SX basses have morphed into Essex for search engine purposes.

Tons of info on here, but people regularly post asking if SX is any good. Some folks get all worked up about the constant questions and forget that they have the option to ignore any thread they choose.

I've had three from rondomusic.com and have liked them all.

Let me see, is a hundred dollar SX bass any good? Compared to another hundred dollar bass; yes. Compared to a $500 or higher bass; no. Buy it for a $100, get a decent set up and next year you'll be wanting a $500 bass. Save your money for a few more months and buy a nice bass. I went through that SX thing, bought two, modded one. Did profit $50 when I sold the unmodded one. Not a fan any more.

Okay, Franklin, you've only been a member for a short while, so we forgive you for asking a question that has been posed 1 million times in the last year.

Search for Essex and you will get five days worth or reading.

I liked the one I had, but ultimately sold it because I wasn't playing it much. It was a great back up bass, and many people put a little work into them and get a good gigging bass.

Standard answer is: good for the price, almost certain to need setup and new strings before it plays/sounds well.

No, they were always called Essex basses. They shortened the name on the headstocks to SX on some of the models.

And yeah, this thread has been covered a zillion times now.
