any one know if the headstock on an sx(not the old ones) has enough extra wood on it to mod it into say a tele style?

Yep, both do, the old style and the new style. You might not be able to do a direct tracing of a tele onto the headstock, but you can certainly do a variation on the tele style - enough to give the vibe...
