just wondering (cuase i just started playing bass this christmas) how do u read bass tabs? i cant play much now but im learning and i'd like to actually play a song but i dont know how to read the tabs..........

Have you found out how to read them yet?
Think of each line as a string on your bass (Example: 4 string bass)
G being the 'bottom' or thinest sting and E being the 'top' or fattest.
The numbers on the lines tell you what fret to play.

For example:
G|-------------------------------------------||
D|-------------------------------------------||
A|-------------------------------------------||
E|--0---0-----2-3---x---2-3-0-2-------------||

This only uses one string... the 'E' string.
So you would play open (strike the string without putting your fingers on any frets) open, 2nd fret, 3rd fret, X (x stands for a muted note... usually open string. Put a finger or your palm on the string gentlty, dont push down and then strike the string.. it should produce a click kind of sound..) then Play, 2nd, 3rd, 2nd and 0pen.
This isn't very important.. but if the numbers are closer together that normally means there is a shorter time in between playing the notes... but It would be hard to get the right tempo rhythm etc with out actually listening to the song... the tabe is just a rought guide.

If you fail to find any tabs, or you find nothing but crap, try google!
And dont ever say you cant find there anything - you either didnt search, or searched badly!

And yes, as far as I know, there are TONS of tabs for GuitarPro on www.mysongbook.com which suites very well for beginners and experienced players too, coz sometimes you've got ASCII tab, but dont know the exact tempo

911 tabs is the easiest way to find tabs... it combines a ton of tab websites into one area... there are links to it on the bottom fot hte tab archive here... http://www.911tabs.com ...

you can also download a toolbar for finding tabs fast... very useful!

This is a really good program, it has the traditional notation and tabs ... and if your too lazy to figure out the timing for yourself, or, even read the timing off the page you can press play and it plays the song for you, using some (sometimes annoying) midi sounds, as its playing it shows where its up to with a cursor. But in context, the midi sounds are pretty good for such a small file... you don't even need to sign up for an account on the archive page, you can just download

im new also but if im not mistaken when you look at the tab

string G-----fret7------fret5--- and so on
string D---fret6-------4------6
string A----3-----6-----7---------------
string E---0-------3------2--------0--
its like looking at your bass upside down
and you play the notes in order of first come first played so if im not mistaken this would be played 0-3-6-7-6-3-4-7-2-5-6-0- of course on the proper string and fret,, this is just an example not sure it really plays any music. hope i didnt convuse you to bad.. good luck
