Double Bass Taking Amps on planes?

I have a one of those typical GK combo amp with a 10" speaker.
Has anyone flown with those? can you carry it on?

Hehe, wish it was a 10", that would make it more portable. It's actually a 12". A GK combo can be stowed in the overhead compartment, if it's big enough, (you obviously may not fit it in a smaller regional jet) but be prepared to get some sh*t from some flight attendants, especially on Delta, the least musician-friendly airline company in the US (We should all boycott it).

AF of M IS boycotting Delta.

I've had pretty good luck just taking my Woods as carry on (in a padded shoulder bag) and hooking up a 10" or 12" speaker cabinet at the destination. Sometimes I get hooked up and somebody just loans me the cabinet, sometimes I've had to rent one from a local music store. I don't think I've spent over $50 for a 2 night rental...
