taking off velc?

hi,

hope this isn't too beginning .. but how do you manage to clean up and take off existing velcro on your pedal, that's been there for a while .. ?

Sheer force does the trick for me.

You can loosen the glue with naptha (liquid lighter fluid). Once you have the bulk of the stuf off, clean the rest of the glue off the same way.

I prefer goo-gone, considering the interesting experiences I've had with lighter fluid before

Goo gone is your friend in this case. It works wonders on sticker glue.

Yeah, I'm sure that lighter fluid will work. However, I'm not a big fan of pouring HIGHLY flammable fluids on anything a)I'm not going to set fire to and b) have a battery in it that could possily create a spark and unavoidably lead to 'a.'

Depends on what glue you used. I just yank hard! Usually the glue sticks to the velcro and not the pedal. But on my pedal board (which is plywood) I've used an abrasive pad on an angle grinder to remove the excess glue.

well..
it actually isn't too serious .. just got a used pedal and it has a velcro not 'properly' aligned and just sore in my eyes thought of releasing it and paste a new one in .. its the industrial strength one..

the adhesive stays stuck on the industrial strength velcro that i use, which is awesome. if i ever have to undo my velcroing, i have to sit there and patiently pull at the velcro for 5-10 minutes. good stuff!
