Ive been playing bass for around 3 years now. I know all the notes on the bass and the basic scale construction (not all the notes in every scale tho ). I can play pretty much anything thrown at me in tab form. I seem to be at a point where I dont know how to get better. WIll memorizing all the notes the scales help? Ear training (if the song is prominently bass, I cant pick out the bass line...)?

Any suggestions appreciated.

If you can't sight read, learn how to sight read. Then buy a book of songs from whatever band you like, go through with a sharpie and blacken out all the numbers on the tab. Leave it so you can just tell what string the note is on from that tab. That helped me tremendously to get better at sight reading.

If you're not already doing it, play with other people. It makes such a difference (at least for me).
