Just a quick shoutout, every time I hear Tammy Powers with Vernon McIntyre's Appalachian Grass, I am really impressed. Although I'm not a Bluegrass bass player myself, I am a BG fan, and can appreciate a good bass player of any kind. Tammy gets an amazing, huge sound from her vintage Kay, lays down great time and bass lines, makes the band sound good and makes it all look easy. She also has incredible discipline and makes me realize how spoiled I am with my bass, which almost plays itself. I picked up her old Kay with Supernils once, and I could barely play it. It was like driving an old truck with no power steering or synchronized gears compared to my bass. It really put me in my place. Did I mention the huge sound she gets?
