Bass...the final frontier

I just got one the other day and played it on a job Saturday night. I really like this bass. Problem though, and it's a serious one.

There is no radius on this bass, so where you rest your arm, it is VERY uncomfortable to play. I am seriously thinking about returning it, but I'm really torn, because otherwise, it is an excellent (and affordable) bass. I think it is a serious design oversight. As you can see from the pictures, I'm not putting my arm on it in an extreme angle at all. Check out the redness on my arm, it actually is quite uncomfortable to play. Also, check out the razor-sharp edge this thing has.

Anyone else having this issue?

Thanks,
Mike

Though archery guards are typically leather and reinforced to keep the forearm straight, I have seen them used in person. Personally, I'd go with the fuzzies or the baseball guards/bands.

I looked at the local sporting goods store and found that the $3.99 Rawlings wrist sweat bands are perfect. I have used them as a bit of a training aid, as I will have to learn to adapt my body to playing this bass. I was close to sending it back, but I like it so much, am going to keep it. The sweat bands work great. I will use them when/if my arm is aggravated enough.

If you're sure you're not going to re-sell you could make the forearm contour by yourself with a rasp and some sandpaper. But touching up the finish won't be easy.
