TC Electronic BG250-208 Toneprint issues

Hi,

I own a TC BG250-208 combo with the in my opinion really great toneprint feature..at least it is, when it works.

I have the third (!!!) unit now, where the toneprint feature completely stopped working. The toneprint led even lights up when I turn the knob completely counterclockwise and there won't be any toneprint. TC support and my local dealer both told me, that they encounter the problem quite rarely, which I can't believe, because it even made its way into the TC FAQ:

Are there any owners of the BH250 or BG250-208 (which is the same amp unit) in this forum and could you tell me, if you ever encountered similiar problems?

As you can imagine I am quite angry at the moment. I will definitely change my unit for a non-TC amp this time. It's sad, because there is nothing comparable on the market (a small lightweight combo which can connect a big cab for gig usage) as far as I know. Could anyone of you suggest any alternatives?

Yes! I recently purchased the BG250-115.... I downloaded and used toneprints often using both the iPhone and the iPad. I plugged in today and nothing. No flashing led and no change of the effect. Now I'm stuck with the toneprints that are currently loaded in the amp.

Is there any fix? I plan to return the amp to the store.

I recently picked up a secondhand BH250, which I understand is the same head used in the BG250. I was having this exact same issue - TonePrint light steady on regardless of position (including fully counterclockwise), TonePrints seemed to beam okay from my iPhone but didn't change the sound any.

I emailed the TC Support desk through their website and described the problem. A few hours later I got a response from one of their techs that included a firmware update utility. When I got home I followed the directions and successfully updated the firmware, and now the amp works exactly as it should. I was prepared to have to send the amp in for repair and be out some cash, so you can imagine how stoked I am that the fix was this easy!

I urge any others out there in TBLand to do the same.
