Teardrop Bass

So I I have decided to cut the horns of an old p Bass and turn it into a teardrop style bass. I'm going to sand it and stain it either a cherry color, or just darken the natural wood color.
Here is a picture of what is done so far. I have to fabricate a pickguard too, but that actually should not be to hard to do.

It was an old buddy's beat up Pbass he didn't want anymore so I took the initiative to turn it into teardrop style bass.

Give it a Blueburst finish and then carve the headstock into an ugly pointy thingy and you'll have it.

Tear drop calls for a shade of blue. Lake Placid Blue or something. Or chocolate like a Hershey's Kiss.

Don't forget to install a Jazz p/u at the bridge and wire it like a Rick including the vol/tone for each p/u and a mono and stereo out. Then it's like Geddy's.

Hummm. I think it could look rather wicked kewl as a medieval bass done steam punk style. Allready has popular medieval days body style that your calling teardrop. Or the geddy lee version mentioned by others. Lol.

Looks like you will need a strap button on the headstock.

Cool, you gave me and idea for an old aftermarket body I have. If I do it, I'll make it so I could mount it on my EUB stand and play it upright.

Yeah I realized it is going to be quite neck heavy. I'm used to it though with my short-scale viola bass.

Hope it still sounds decent, after Geddy did that exact same thing to his he said it sounded horrid.

I tried the teardrop when I was a freshman in highschool (1992 or so) on an old Westone P-bass that I gor for $50. I quickly realised why Geddy didn't use his much at all. The bass was super neck heavy and was only playable while standing. I should have just left it alone............ I kept the damn thing floating around until last year when I finally got sick of finding places to hide it away. I guess 17 years was long enough............ lol

I know, no pic, no bass. I did take a pic before it made it's way to the dump.........
