Tears for Fears Head Over Heels - Help me solve a dispute

Ok great recording, beautiful bass line and tone.

But what bass is it?

A friend of mine is convinced it is a fretless.

I think it is a fretted, just favoring the bridge PU to get a bit of that burp.

Live performances I see being played on a fretted Warwick and some fretted headless thingy.

But my friend is still convinced. I told him I'd make a post on here and let an expert weigh in and he'd agree.

So, it's fretted right? (not leading in anyway

I would say that the studio version is fretted.

When i saw them in the 80's he was using a Steinburger.

Great tune. Played it a few times with my band. Never got the impression the original was on fretless.
