Tech 21 Para Driver vs MXR M80 DI

I think they serve different purposes. I have the MXR, and it's a very nice, transparent outboard preamp. It's best utilized if you like the sound of your bass and amp, but maybe need some EQ boost or cut in your signal chain.

The Sansamp stuff I think is more to add some color and tubey girth to your sound, but is not really known to be transparent per se.

I'm consdering getting a paradriver, but mainly to get a little overdriven tube amp grit for when I need it. Also, it may begood for when I (frequently) have to play through a crappy backline.

Hope this helps!

I have owned both. The sansamp will colour the tone more, the mxr is more transparent (though it does colour the sound as well, it is not ultra-transparent).

Both are good pedals.
Personally I prefer the paradriver.

Bingo.

The thing i like about the M-80 is that it lets my bass and amp shine through, just with some perfectly dialed EQ added to it. I suppose that would be a bad thing if you aren't 100% happy with your bass and/or amp, in which case a sansamp would be perfect as it will color your tone a lot more.
