Tech21 Sansamp Character Plus pedals 50% off ($124.50)

I bought one of these to have around as a direct box for guest guitarists and my own occasional use, but was super disappointed to find it it would not run off phantom power like a typical tech21 DI, I ended up returning it and getting a paradriver instead.

Except that it was a tone shaping device for guitar, not just a DI, and at the time it was a 300$ cdn product. I chose it specifically because I assumed it could be run off phantom power, and was disappointed by that.

Edit: My point in posting was only to alert people to the fact that these pedals cannot be powered by phantom power like Tech 21's other DI/Preamp pedals.

Something like that happened to me when I first acquired the Tech 21 SH-1 and used it plugged in directly to my amp. It *works*, and some use this type of preamp pedal like that, but once I started using it in the return of my effects loops, bypassing my amp's voicing, all that ugly noise went away, and everything became crystal clear (granted that not too much distortion is coming from other attached effects.) Nowadays, since I love my two Tech 21 Sansamp pedals (SH-1 and this English Muffy), I exclusively use them as my "head", and use my combo amp basically as a powered cab.

(Out of topic: indeed I am looking right now for a powerful but not too huge/heavy powered cab that could be used for both bass and guitar-anyone knows what is good in this regard? I love what I have for bass, and do play guitar through it no problem, but wished to know if a better solution was available out there.)
