I decided to rewire my Tele Partscaster that I assembled 2 summers ago to a Broadcaster set-up (minus the 15k resistor and changing the cap to 0.01uf).

This set-up makes the bridge setting a blender pot, the middle setting is the neck with no tone roll-off, and the neck position is with the cap engaged 100% (Leo meant for this to be a Tele-bass setting with the 0.05 cap). Many beleive this to be the Micawber set-up.

Anyhoo, took the opportunity to give the solid Pau Ferro neck a 600 grit sand and a few coats of Feed & Wax. For all the PF haters, this is what is required to make it right.

That neck looks amazing! The Pau Ferro look has really grown on me lately. It's my top pick for the fretless build I keep putting off.

I just bought a 2021 MiM Fender Player Stratocaster. It has a Pao Ferro fingerboard. I don't hate it. Thought I would, but nope.

I love it. It's just that I've noticed Fender PF fretboards look like they were left out in the sun in Bakersfield in August.

Was this body finished by All Parts and sold that way, or sold as a raw body and finished by someone after the fact?

Edit: I did some searching on the interweb and found that the finished blue-flower body is a product that All Parts sells. Good to know!

Yep. Dry as a bone. I have some oil on order for just that. I'll do some edge rolling while I'm at it. The fingerboard radius is odd, but I'm getting used to it.

So I've re-attached the neck and decided to experiment even more by stringing it with TI Nickel Flats (0.012 to 0.05). My goal, which I feel like I've succeeded at, was a more mature brooding tone that still retained some Tele twang. As far as the Broadcaster wiring configuration, I think I nailed that too. The neck position is dark but not a mud puddle, the middle position is the neck with no capacitor, and the bridge is a blender position (slightly higher on the bridge sounds very nice, to my ears).

Anyone else interested in this configuration, here's my wiring (the cap is an Orange Drop 100V, 0.01uF):

When I had my two Tele thinlines I modded one of them with Texas Specials and a 4 position switch to replace the standard 3 position switch. I liked that one a bunch.

So just an update to my Tele mod, now that I've had a good chance to demo the new set up:

So the TI flats are long gone. Loved the tone but the stiffness hurt my fingers. Makes sense though, flatwound wraps are butted against each other without the spaces of a round wound. Since guitar strings are significantly smaller in width (duh), they dig into your finger tips much more. Ouch.

The wiring however, I'm in love with. The neck is dark & brooding...perfect for Iommi power chording or rhythm guitar in general. The middle position has an Electric Ladyland vibe....can't describe it much better. And the bridge blender is very handy although I admittedly use the bridge pickup at 100% most of the time.
