The Quarter Pound Duncan in particular or similar. Thinking about swapping out my stock American Std. P-bass pickups for a hot wound pickup.
It just says i can expect more Punch..more volume too I guess.
Will I be blown away?
I put DiMarzio In my SX P bass If there good enough for Billy Sheehan that says it all for me. Oh they sound really great with Dean Markley Cryogenic Activated Blue Steel Stings on it.
Definitely more volume, but less highs. Hot pickups like the QP's and DiMarzio Model P's and J's are a good amount darker than vintage style pickups. But they do have more low mid punch to them. Personally, I prefer the DiMarzios. They're a little more gnarly than the QP's IMHO.
