It has been a while but I just stumbled across this old thread and my promise to report my experience with the Chinese necks.
I was given the choice for nut width, number of frets, 3 fret sizes and whether the finish was clear or tinted as standard options when ordering.
The fretwork was not flawless, a fret rocker showed a few high frets so I did a leveling and crowning that turned out to be quick and simple. The fret ends were trimmed and smooth. Truss rod works well and has plenty of travel.
The nut it came with is the cheapest plastic and I replaced it with a bone nut I had at hand.
I have one more neck to build a bass around and I am very happy with what I received and would not hesitate to buy others in the future.
