Tempted by this Sadowsky

Greetings everyone!

I am tempted to get this bass:

(It's the on in the top left, the LE Sadowsky).

Unfortunately i will not have the chance to play it, but i was wondering what people think about it? Also people who own one could tell me about their experiences?

Well, I first got an MV5 Metro, and then an RV5. Still have them both; the RV5 is my main player. Pretty much they do what you'd expect: the ash/maple is snappier in the upper midrange and more transparent down low, while the alder/rosewood is thicker in the low mids and rounder down low.

IMHO, if you like the Fender J concept but weren't entirely happy with Fender's execution of it (my experience, over decades), these Sadowskys are a great choice. And IME, everything people say about Sadowskys sitting in the mix perfectly and working well in all kinds of rooms with all kinds of rigs is true. All I can tell ya is that I've been fortunate to have owned a good number of excellent basses, and these Vintage 5ers (particularly the alder/rosewood one) were like finding my way home. These are the keepers, for me.

I have an MV5 and love it. I bought it directly from the Sadowsky shop without playing it first. Build quality is superb and, from the others I've played, exceedingly consistent. And there's something magic about that preamp in a live setting.

Yeah, if I had the $$ I'd buy a Sadowsky and be done. I've got their pre/DI and it takes my modern player jazz bass to new levels. It's been a while since I've been able to play a Sadowsky, but I remember it was heavenly!
