ten foot fall for a bass?!!!

I used to work at a ceramic tile warehouse about a zillion years ago. I had to pack 30# boxes of tile so they would survive a ten foot fall. We never actually tested it you understand, but I know my way around a tape gun!

400 ft-lbs. That would hurt, but not do a whole lot of damage. If you were talking impact force, that is harder to figure out.

lbs is a unit of Force.

After a show once I threw my 1993 Fender Jazz (in case) more than ten feet, and it was fine.

isn't the impact a lot different when you toss your axe across 10 feet then drop 10 feet down? IDK, you'd think that.

I would drop a bass that was packed like that from 10 feet, shouldn't have any problems there if it is in the hardshell case. In fact, I put my mom's acoustic in its case and dropped it off the roof to test to see if the case manufactures claim that not only would the guitar be in perfect shape, it would still be in tune. It was.

It might be lighter (although my bass and my mom's acoustic are about the same weight), but acoustics are less sturdy and will break easier.

FWIW, if you're shipping Ibanez Soundgear, it would probably survive a nuclear bomb blast at ground zero, let alone a measley ten foot drop.
