Tendonitis, CTS, and playing bass

Have any of you suffered from tendonitis and/or CTS? I think I may have it because of my progressively worsening wrist and arm pains and I'm trying to get a hold of my doctor now to get checked-out. Needless to say I'm afraid of forever losing my ability to play bass and I'm not willing to give-up without fighting.

For those of you who suffered from this condition, were you able to recover your ability to play bass? Did any of you lose your ability forever?

I have it now and again in my right wrist. Ice is your friend. I've found that computer use is the worst thing for it.
