Tenor Bass

Hi, im new to the site and i must say i like it alot.

Im trying to tune my bass from standard to tenor to play some victor wooten stuff, and i cant seem to do so without popping strings. I have been through 4 sets of strings already. i heard it has to be specially done, is that true? if not do you have any suggestions on how i can get my bass tuned to tenor?

Thanks

This question should go in Strings, not Justin's forum. I don't think he has much use for tenor basses anyway. But you have to use the three thinnest strings in your set plus a C string from a 6-string set, otherwise you put way too much tension on the neck and snap strings, as you've seen.
