tension between Pure Blues and Hi Beam

I hesitate to leave my favorite hi beam

I use both and find the PB to be just a touch more stiff than the HB but not by very much. I like both strings and find I’m moving more and more to Pure Blues.

They will be the same tension is "should have" a similar amount of flex since they're both round core. I suppose the different winding material could change the flex a bit.

I use Sunbeams and Hi-Beams....it all depends on the bass. The flex on them is the same.

Full disclosure- I love the Sunbeams and H-Beams to much I haven't felt compelled to try the Pure Blues yet.

Medium Sunbeams (45-105) have been one of my favourite rounds for a while now. When I experimented with Medium Pure Blues, I found they felt a bit tighter compared to the Sunbeams I was using previously on the same bass. It was not a _drastic_ difference, but I noticed the difference in flexibility. I then tried the Light Pure Blues set (40-100) and liked them much better. I've been meaning to try the Victor Wooten Pure Blues set (40-55-75-95) one of these days as well...

I think Sunbeams and Hi Beams are pretty similar in terms of flexibility, so if your experience is similar to mine, then you may find Pure Blues in the same gauges feel just a bit stiffer.

Pure Blues converted me from being a Sunbeam/Highbeam gal for my Ibanez.

I really don't like stiff strings like Low Riders and PB are ok for me and their tone is so warm and the highs are mellow but still snap when I want them to.

Try them and ask your bass which it prefers too.
