I just had a need to post this after today's work.
I've been an active bass round wound aficionado for years. In the 8yrs I've been making records, I more or less used MMs and stainless steel strings and what not.
Since checking in here and reworking my approach to the bass, I've fallen in love with the response of a great passive bass, ended up selling all my actives and now own three P basses and a rick 4001.
To shorten the story, I put a set of Chromes on my P last week, did a couple gigs and finally recorded with them today. I managed to track 12 tunes for a record I'm working on and had the ideal sound. I never could have done it with a different set up, especially this quick. And, though it feels odd for a grown man to say this, it was mostly thanks to your positive influence on my playing and approach!
