Hey Guys,

A about week and a half ago I had posted about whether or not I should seek professional help to control my anxiety and stress because I was freaking out over school and basically having repeated melt downs and questioning my future. For those of you that didn't know and are reading this. I'm 20 and in my third year of college. I'm studying Neuroscience in hopes of pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a doctor. Sometimes however I find myself lost and really frustrated with my schooling and lack of confidence in myself.

Well, I took the advice of some of you who suggested I go in to the counseling office at school. I've started to do sessions with the counselors to learn to manage my anxiety, stress, and low confidence.

I just wanted to say thank you for hearing me out when I needed someone to lean on and for giving me support to go in and get the real help I needed. Its a dark place being alone with your thoughts sometimes and it means a lot when you have people who turn on the light and show you to the door. Thanks again

I was once a stressed out science major. Even without a job, with your aspirations, life can be brutal. And you NEED someone to talk to. Medications may help, but having someone to talk to is a huge stress blow off valve. Use that first. Turn to medication ONLY if you cant do it with talk counciling or anything else. And please know psych meds arent just for crazy people. Just think of this help as you would study sessions or anything else. You are collaborating with other people to better yourself and achieve your goals; doesnt matter what credentials they have. The guy down the hall could teach you more than a PHD, so you never know. But PLEASE do not be afraid to seek help. I promise you that WILL be a road to failure. We are only human. I truly, from the bottom of my heart, wish you all the best. I kNOW you will kick some intellectual ass. Do it.

Just by going to seek counsel speaks of your character. As someone who lacks confidence may lack the ability to seek help. Anxiety and a lack of confidence can be restrictive. Talk to yourself in the mirror and out loud to yourself. I noticed a lot of people may find this weird and never try it but just doing that means you are talking and listening. Who knows, it may lead you to speak with confidence instead of being timid.

Jump around and have fun with life!!! If you are able run and jump and roll in the grass! Embrace your youthful by taking lessons from a child's form of play. That is medicine for the soul.

Just a couple shots in the dark.

Good luck :)

Hey again,

Just to clear it up. I'm not taking any medications nor do I plan too. I don't feel like that would make any difference as I consider myself a happy and friendly person who knows where he wants to be just is frustrated with being stuck in the process. I just needed someone to talk to and give me feedback on how to rewire myself to be positive about myself instead of always doubting my abilities.

I dunno about jumping about though haha After fracturing my skull I'm a little afraid of falling over :p

Thanks again for the help and support
