again, people are misunderstanding my original post. im saying +1 is awesome, i get it.. my issue is that i think it is overkill to copy and paste a gigantic post, only to add +1 at the end. does this make sense? if i just read and scrolled through a 15 minute rant by BasementBassist69, why does some guy come behind him and repost his entire rant? why not take a segment of it, or simply type " +1 @ BasmentBassist69"? you know, keep the thread grooving.
is there any such thing as absolute truth @ matticus? no matter WHAT someone posts, no mattercus what the op's background or experiece is SOMEONE will always go out-of-their way to disprove or assimilate him/her.

really grinds thee ole gears. someone (typically the OP), may make a veeeery long-winded post, which is cool, i enjoy a good read just as much as the next guy. my issue is, why do some of you copy that ENTIRE post, paste it back in the thread, and follow it with a lazy " +1 "? sir / ma'am...are you serious? it just took me 17 finger flicks to scroll though that original post, now ive scrolled though it AGAIN on a count of YOU, and i'll probably have to scroll though it 12 more times during the first two pages of any given thread, and you have nothing more to offer than " + 1"? YOU members...YOU who engage in this type of behavior are who i refer to as the "+1 Army",YOU who owe TB so much more than a +1...you who will +1 my statment as if to say "yer right on calbo, but +1 . your statement is lacking something vital..so i'll add 1 to it, but i wont share what it is".that felt GOOD, mods i wasnt sure if this belonged in the off-topic section or the technique section perhaps? please feel free to move it or sticky it.. and why do guys always tell mods to move something? lmao! *my mod voice* "thankyou for your permission BedroomBass6969, i would have never known to do that without your direction"

Says you! I'd rather NTB, meev, and he who shall not be spoken of, personally! They were far more fun to taunt....Come back Eric Albany...all is forgiven...

That's the beauty. Although not active, we can search the archives for some pure gems! Before my time my friend, before my time...though I have looked as some NTB gems in the HOF. If only I'd found TB earlier.
I reckon this thread's got legs though...
im 34 years old (not that it should matter). am i not allowed to have some fun here? and i take my hat off to the guys who tell other "use the search feature, roooar!" there must be a million threads on talkbass (i know a million might be a stretch)! kudos to those of you with the capacity to memorize them all, then flame some poor schmuck for touching on a topic that YOU in your omnipresent wisdom feels or KNOWS has been done before.. i read somewhere that we are somewhere around the 8'000th generation of people on earth..surely EVERY thing has been discussed already, and theres no such thing as an original thought..let alone talkbass post
Ouch.Well actually, doesn't it matter to you that most responses assume you are an angry teenager? I'd be embarrassed to behave like this at your age.
Carry on![]()

+1+1
.......................but not really.
+1+1
Sorry couldn't resist. You're misunderstanding. People say "+1" because they agree with everything you say and the way you said it.
Calm down. This is a really stupid thing to be angry about. Sheesh.
+1Sometimes there's nothing to add. It doesn't prevent me from giving my opinion in a short way.
+1
+1I see what you did there.
Oh, and +1.
+1MWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
+1.
+1-1
I disagree
+1lol, the +1 Army doesn't make me mad, they make me do a whole lot of extra scrolling. by my calculations, i spend about 15-20 minutes per month on just scrolling alone. i figure thats time that could be spent slapping inside guitar center or making babies. i know +1 means "i agree /high-five"..my issue is with that guy who re-posts an entire , mile -long post or entire series of pictures just to add +1 at the end..thats the digital equivalent of over-forestation.
+1
+1+1 @ calbo
+1-1 and your post is a mess to read by the way, -2.
+1
+1+1 means "I agree, and there is nothing else I can add."
+1
Except for those occasions where someone goes "+1, and....." or "+1, but....."
+1If you're really worried about that 15-20 minutes per month...well...what are you sitting there for? Go forth and copulate.
+1"THIS."
And--hey there it is, the "and"--the "Mods, feel free to move this thread" is not, obviously the OP's blessing, but rather their attempt to say: "I'm not sure if this goes here. Sorry if this in the wrong spot; I won't be butt hurt if this is moved" (because folks get upset about the silliest things, such as threads being moved to the appropriate sub-forum and what-not).
Is there a formula to figure time spent scrolling?
+1messy...maybe. it was designed that way. im trying to paint a picture here and take the reader on a journey. my frantic, "mess to read" style is meant to challenge the reader, and by the end youre supposed to feel frustrated and spent...as if youve been scrolling all afternoon. .. +1 to the guy in the suggestive red tee shirt.
+1LOL! +1
+1hey hammerhed, why didnt you suggest i slap some bass inside guitar center for 15-20 minutes instead? lol...+1![]()
+1awesome replies guys and gals, keep em coming.
+1+1
If that's the case, I suggest that you attempt to kill two birds, and should also combine the need for us....

+1this reminds me of the 'first world problems' thread
17 finger flicks........dang
+1But what's your lines scrolled per flick?
+1Think of the "+1" as an internet golf clap, or an encouraging nod of the head towards your general direction.
+1i usually give my screen a medium-light flick. i play active basses, so i have a light touch.for example, one flick just got me through aaron and epitaph's last posts.
+1You need a macbook, the trackpad is such a beauty to flick with you will actually enjoy it.
+1+1
+1
BIG +1
+1Are you using a mouse with a roller thing on it?
+1+1 to the -1
+1no @ agent 77 im using thee ole dusty iphone
+1Ohhhhhhh! Well then you have every right to complain.
+1 to your original post.
+1It does kind of explain the mess, lack of capitalization and some other things. However, I wouldn't go as far as "+1'ing" his original post.
Maybe -1.75 instead of -2.
+1When I have a "+1", I make the effort to say something like, "Right on, Bro," or "Amen, Brother." Then I don't have to listen to complaints about "+1."
+1you guys need to understand what makes this thread a win/win, my "gift" to members present and future. for one, people will read this and realize " calbo is right, ive spent the last 12 hours working on modes, scales, and arguing other talkbass members down about why my p bass with flats is so superior to a jazz bass with rounds..my fingers are fatigued." now, maybe people wont drag a giant post just to say +1, thus sparing everyones fingers after a long day (your welcomed).
+1No fun flamin someone who asks for it,not that i would personally do that anyway.
+1
+1secondly, i dont believe a thread quite like this has EVER been started. all you who replied are now a part of history..youre all innovators. this thread will go viral and its all because of you. the +1 army![]()
+1+ 2. I'm an innovator.
+1+I (Roman numeral 1) Did you really think you could begin this thread without receiving a "+1"?![]()
+1Why do they call those things smart phones anyhow?![]()
+1again, people are misunderstanding my original post. im saying +1 is awesome, i get it.. my issue is that i think it is overkill to copy and paste a gigantic post, only to add +1 at the end. does this make sense? if i just read and scrolled through a 15 minute rant by BasementBassist69, why does some guy come behind him and repost his entire rant? why not take a segment of it, or simply type " +1 @ BasmentBassist69"? you know, keep the thread grooving.
+1Are you certain about that?![]()
+1I don't read anything longer than 3 paragraphs. I just jumped in with a +1 for fun.
+1+1...or replying to a post with 10 pictures. You can still quote the post you're replying to but either just pick out the one or two lines you're specifically replying to or just truncate after the first few lines followed by "...". It isn't a problem when you're got a short post but if you're responding to more than a paragraph...no need to quote the whole thing.
+1Where is the fun in this?^^^^^^^ +1
+1+ 1 @ all the grammer-nazis who have responded so far. *in my guy who hates slap bass because he himself cant slap...clears throat* for your information, i could use proper grammer and punctuation if i wanted, but whats the point? im a "pocket typist", all your fancy king's english aint necessary.![]()
+1See no quote and im already 3 posts behind what i was pointing at.
+1is there any such thing as absolute truth @ matticus? no matter WHAT someone posts, no mattercus what the op's background or experiece is SOMEONE will always go out-of-their way to disprove or assimilate him/her.
+1lmao, you miss my point @ 4dog..i think the quote feature is awesome..almost as awesome as this innovative, brand new style of thread we are currently posting history in. im talking about the joker who drags the ENTIRE interviewing bassists thread, re-posts it just to say +1..if youre gonna make me re-read all that over and over, atleast add some wisdom or sarcasm...SOMETHING extra to it for my troubles.
+1Absolute truth corrupts absolutely!
10 hundred bonus points for being the first person to use the word mattercus, that was pure brilliance.
I only asked if you were certain, because Ive this wrenching feeling the matter[cus] has been discussed before, albeit maybe not exactly in the same regard as this thread.
And your post would have been 10times more effective had you quoted me.![]()
+1No disrespect intended but you're 15 aren't you?
+1
+1There seems to be a plethora of angry kids starting daft threads on TB recently.
Come back Eric Albany...all is forgiven.
btw, to the OP, this topic has been covered at least 3 times in the 2 years I've been here. Trouble is, new App search function won't let me find them. If I could be bothered, that is. Too much exercise for my poor finger.
+1Says you! I'd rather NTB, meev, and he who shall not be spoken of, personally! They were far more fun to taunt.![]()

+1Ouch.
+1. I'm in a very agreeable mood today.my next thread will be about "Mascots" those are people who are SOOO addicted to the internet..they literally get offended because someone doesnt use the search function before posting. Mascots say things like "use the search function", they have memorized every thread, they get physically ill if someone here disagrees with their choice of pups or or brand of guitar stand. mascots throw around words like "troll" and inquire about peoples ages..they'll check your profile AND cross-reference every thread youve ever started or posted in before they'll even acknowledge a question you may pose or some advice you may seek .now, look a the post above yours, then beneath yours..good chance one of them fall into the "mascot" category.![]()
