The All New Passive Sire P5 & D5

I was gassing for a V5, and now after reading this thread, you guys have me gassing for a P5 as well!

How's the pickup on the P5, does it have enough b@lls? From the yt videos it's sounds really juicy and extra tasty, especially in the mids! Some say it lacks some lows, but most vintage P pups sort of do afaik.

What's your experience?

Oh, and how does the C sounds on the P, is it tight enough?

Keep in mind I only had the chance to play the bass on one gig so far but the pickup really impressed me. Possibly even more so than the Nordy I had in my old Lakland skyline 55-64. Idk about lacking lows.. it had a very appropriate blend of lows and mids for what I like, and not too nasally on the high end. The whole package should cost way more than the $600 that it does. The B string was also surprisingly tight and defined. It’s a winner for sure, just wish it was a bit lighter.

The one I got is just over 9.5 lbs. The neck is pretty thin front to back but still substantial. Super comfy

My M7 5er fretless comes in at 8.6 pounds. Much sleeker and lighter body than the Jazz bodies of the V series.

Of course, I'm sure a lot of weight saving is not having all those frets!

Mine's Gen 1, the newer Gen 2 models should be a bit lighter due to the roasted neck.

As the writer of this little review of the first Sire P5, I naturally wanted to know how the newer PU sounds.

[Review] Marcus Miller Sire P5

I had the P5R here briefly and to my ears I couldn't hear much difference from the first one with maple fingerboard.
(as far as I can still remember).

For me, the Squier Classic Vibe 1. series still has the more coherent, low-mid sound on it.

Ultimately, however, this is a matter of taste and the quality of the Sires is simply great at the price.
The neck feels great.
