Although they don't seem as popular as some of the other boutique bass brands on TB, I hope that there are other Atleier Z bass admirers and owners in the TB community. If so, here's an opportunity to organize our basses in one thread and (hopefully) increase their overall presence on the forum.

That said, I would like to launch the Atelier Z Bass Owners Club!

If agreeable to all, I will also serve as Founder and Member#1

Please post your pics and/or stats, if you have one (or more) in your collection.

To kick things off, here are a few pics of my most recent purchase:

I apologize for the delayed response - just returned from vacation.

Welcome to the Atelier Z Bass Owners Club! I was beginning to think that this thread would die without participation, but I kept the faith. Nice basses. It's good to see some Z's on this forum. Keep them coming.....

Here's a recap of the membership so far:

1. BlountEdge
2. rbolanos
3. junno1707
4. gimmeagig

I hope I didn't miss anyone.

Peace.

I dont believe I have ever seen this model. Enjoy ! :bassist:

are these basses heavy? i can see a lot of Ash there, hope they are not, might consider getting one ,oneday.

Hi noirextra,

Atelier basses have been avoided (and criticized) by many players here in the states because of their weight, but I don't find them uncomfortable to play at all. However, I'm not as weight-conscious as many players that I know or speak with. I own three Ateliers and all are lighter than the '74 and '78 Fender Jazz basses that I previously owned as well as the '75 Jazz reissue that I currently own. I've never weighed them, so I can't give you exact specs, but of the three that I own, one is a full-bodied jazz bass (comparable in size to a '70s Fender Jazz) and as a result, is a bit heavier than the other two, which have smaller bodies.

Do yourself a favor - play one. If you're like me, the sound, feel and craftsmanship should over-shadow any concerns you may have about the weight.

Not part of the club, simply because I can't afford one right now (and I just got a Sadowsky MV4), but definitely an avid admirer as I'm absolutley in love with all quality 70's style jazzes... and I hear the Atelier Z makes among the best!

You've heard right, Modern Growl. Their jazz basses are definitely among the best...

I'm going to join up! I currently own this one:

She's older and a bit heavier, but nothing like some that I've read of (13 lbs ) - in the 11 lbs range. I will soon be giving a new home to roblanos black quilt Beta 6. :hyper::bassist::hyper::bassist:

Ever since I saw an NYC Sadowsky years ago that had a black finish over a seriously quilted top I wanted one like it, and the blocks and binding on his pretty much make it irresistable. I also used to own Jonno's burst M265 and it is one of a select few basses that I deeply regret selling and would buy back in a heart beat (as he's well aware - ;)).

For anyone on the fence, I truly have NOTHING BUT GREAT things to say about these basses. The earlier ones can really only be considered flawed for their weight (by those who prefer lighter basses), but since Mas has started keeping the weight down, I don't know of anything bad about them. Amazing basses, and for the money, unbeatable, in my opinion.
