The bass tuned like a 4 string cigar box guitar

Been messing around with a $48 cigar box slide guitar and wonder if any of you have tried tuning your 4 string bass D-G-D no 4th string or D-G-D-E and used the slide.

Have not done it yet, just wondering.....

I find that D-A-D-A tuning is wonderful for playing slide bass. The late Mark Sandman used to play a two stringer, which I believe was just an A-D tuning. I tried an E-B-E-G#, it was less than successful.
