The BassMute returns!

Still loving my Bassmute after all this time. I use I often, sometimes switching it on or off mid song (even though someone on another thread told me very specifically that I'd never use it that way ;))

Nice to know others dig it too!

Does yours not push the tuning sharp or do you not have the setting high enough for it to do that?

Hmmmm, I’ll try to contact him again soon. I think it’s worth pursuing. The bassmute has some features that look very interesting and usable. It’s adjustable and easy to turn on or off during a song. The choice of other mutes that do this seems limited. Maybe the mustang mute, but I’m a little reluctant to drill a hole in my bass before I find out how good a mustang mute is or isn’t. Try as much might I cannot get the nordy mute off and then on again during a song.

Be patient, the bass mute is worth the wait. Read thru the thread and you’ll see others had similar silence experiences, so did I. He delivered, and the thing works really well.

Hey everyone - I was just reviewing this thread that I started 4 years ago, and I'm glad to see that so many others were able to get their hands on a Bassmute since Ellio started making them again.

A month or so ago I finally got around to making a video about my basses, and specifically talked about the mods I did on my P-Bass. These mods were done specifically with the Bassmute in mind, and it was the final piece to the puzzle. It occurred to me that the vid would be a great bookend to my opening post on this thread, so here it is:

Very informative clip. Thanks. In a previous posting you, dvlmusic, mentioned needing a cover over the mute when using a gig bag. Can you elaborate?

This is a direct quote from the Bassmute instructions:

GIG BAG PROTECTION COVER.

When carrying your bass in a gig bag, the rubber foam of the mutes may become damaged. To avoid this, you can easily make a simple protection cover from a piece of plastic sheet as shown in the drawings below. Some piece of waste pick guard material will be fine.

I just repurposed a piece of Gladware tupperware that I wrapped in a couple old baby blankets. Just something to cover the foam while the bass knocks around in my gig bag. I've never had a problem with it.

Hope this helps!

I have contacted him several times but alas no reply yet. On the order form on theBassMute site there is a pop up that says he was swamped with orders after a very positive review from Scotts Bass Lessons. It goes on to say he normally makes about six mutes a week but after the SBL review there was 200 orders in two days. I live in hope.

Hi, try this link
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
Mr. Bert Gerecht gave me a kind and quick feedback to order a bassmute that as not listed on his page (ie 5 strings black) . Ordered it the day after first email contact. I'll keep you posted about the delivery time

Thanks very much for the link Phr014. There’s been no response from Ellio the manufacturer so it’s very good to have an alternative supplier. I have sent Bert Gerecht an email so fingers crossed.

Cool vid, but imo the way it's laid out on the screen makes it look as if you have small hands and a giant head...
No offense meant if you do. ;) :D
